How this tool works
- 1The document's form is read and each field becomes a control matching its type.
- 2Values you enter are written back to the fields by name.
- 3Appearance streams are regenerated, which is what makes the values visible in every viewer rather than only some.
What it will not do
- Only documents with a real interactive form work. A scanned or flattened form has no fields to fill, and the tool says so rather than pretending.
- Fields the document marks read-only are listed but left alone.
- Signature fields need a signing tool and are not filled here.
- Field names come from whoever built the form, so labels are as clear as the names they chose.

- Updating a few answers in a form someone already partly filled in.

Fill PDF Forms runs entirely inside this page. Your file is read by the browser, processed in memory and handed back to your downloads folder. It is never sent to a server, because there is no server involved in this tool.

Because it has none. A great many forms are flat documents that look like forms. Lines and boxes drawn on the page with nothing interactive behind them. Those cannot be filled this way.
